Dr McFaul and the HPBC Administrative Deacons began discussing the future direction of Highland Park Baptist Church at a recent Deacon's retreat. These discussion were an outgrowth of "Holy Conversations" held at the pastor's home in the fall where the church was invited to come in small groups to discuss their ideas and dreams for the church.

Dr. McFaul challenged the Deacons to use the passage from Isaiah 54 to focus on the following goals for the next 5 years. Highland Park Baptist will focus on becoming:

A Worshipping Church	A Missional Church
A Learning Church	A Practicing Church

Lengthening the Cords, Strengthening the Stakes (LCSS) Ministry

• Plan and coordinate LCSS activities and events
• Be a focal point for church members to make suggestions and submit ideas for possible LCSS programs
• Make recommendations to the Deacons and the Church for changes in the organizational structure based on the LCSS ministries

• PR/Outreach - Rusty Shelton
• Education / SS - Barbara Worley
• Children / Youth - DeeDee Wilson
• First Touch - Gregg Wilson
• Church Moderator - John Hastings
• Deacon Executive Committee - Don Dillard, DeeDee Wilson, Bill Crawford

The minstry representatives would be selected annually by each minstry.  The Deacon Executive Committee would serve based on their position so that the incoming Deacon Executive Committee members would replace the outgoing members.
